Financial hardship is another area we assist. Carolina Cancer Foundation assists with medical supplies, gas vouchers, food vouchers, when funding is available.
Being told that you have cancer is enough to digest alone. Surveys say that the first question that comes to mind after hearing this diagnosis is: “Am I going to die?” The second question is: “who will help support my family while I receive treatments?”
Carolina Cancer Foundation eases each patient mind by letting them know we are here for them. It's sometimes impossible to work while receiving treatments as it can take a toll on your body.
Almost 70% of patients who receive services from us had to take a Leave of Absence (LOA) and some had to resign if LOA benefits were not available. Leaving patients to stop focusing on healing only to worry about finances.
